In early December, the GARFIELD registries go to Atlanta to share their views on innovations in clinical practice regarding anticoagulation

“GARFIELD-AF shows that patients without AF symptoms (diagnosed coincidentally) have rates of death, stroke and major bleeding which are similar to those with symptoms. This suggests the presence or absence of symptoms should not influence treatment decisions for stroke reduction. Screening studies and greater awareness of the estimated 1% of the population (>65 yrs) with asympotomatic AF is needed"
